Background Analysis: US HHS Advisory Committee to Discuss Topics Related to Human Research Protections – JUL 21-22, 2015 (SACHRP)

The US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has announced that there will be a meeting of the Secretary's Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP) on Tuesday to Wednesday, July 21-22, 2015. The meeting will include presentations entitled as follows:

- Subpart A Subcommittee (SAS) Report: Informed Consent for Minimal Risk Research

-CMS Perspective on Qualified Clinical Data Registries

-SAS Recommendation: Amendment to H.R.2, Medicare Access and CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) Reauthorization ACT

-Subcommittee on Harmonization (SOH) Report: Waiver of Consent in Cluster Randomized Trials

-Subcommittee on Harmonization (SOH) Report: Benchmarking in Human Subjects Research

Return of Research Results

- The Ethics Police: a Commentary on Human Subject Research Protections

- SOH Recommendation: Return of Research Results and Emergent CLIA and HIPAA Issues

In the context of this SOH recommendation, brief presentations will also be made by the American Society for Investigative Pathology and the National Organization for Rare Disorders.
