Results Wire: US FDA Advisory Committee Hears FDA Reports and Votes to Establish Two New Subcommittees – NOV 20, 2014 (SBFDA)

On Thursday, November 20, 2014, the Science Board to the Food and Drug Administration (SBFDA) met to hear a report on FDA’s Office of the Chief Scientist, an update on FDA’s response to Ebola, and a report on FDA’s Food Safety Challenge. The Board also reviewed progress reports from two subcommittees, on the Commissioner's Fellowship Program and the Science Moving Forward program. In addition, a recipient of a 2013 Scientific Achievement Awards (selected by the Board) provided an overview of the activities for which the award was given. In new business, the Board voted to establish two new subcommittees: one to evaluate the Office of Regulatory Affairs' Food Emergency Response Network (FERN), and the other to evaluate the Centers of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation (CERSI) program.
